Revitalizing Aging Infrastructure: Drain Lining Project at Hiram Walker

The Problem

Advanced deterioration of the piping infrastructure was resulting in diminished capacity, flow restrictions, and thereby disrupting operational continuity and negatively impacting production efficiency.

The Process

Began with a comprehensive CCTV Inspection to assess the extent of deterioration, identify defects such as cracks, voids, and intrusions, and confirm suitability for lining. This was followed by mechanical cleaning with premium chains and heavy grit sandpaper to remove scale buildup and debris, ensuring proper installation of the liner. Resin saturated liners were installed via pull-in-place method. Once in position, the liner was cured using UV light to form a seamless, jointless pipe within the existing host pipe. The new structural liner provides enhanced resistance to corrosion and infiltration.

The Solution

A trenchless rehabilitation approach utilizing Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) technology with CCUV NuFlow lining was recommended to restore system integrity and optimize performance. This solution minimizes operational disruption while providing enhanced resistance to the aggressive substances and chemicals conveyed through the wastewater piping system.

Outcomes

This solution eliminated the need for extensive excavation, reduced downtime, and extended the service life of the piping system by 50 years or more, making it a cost-effective and durable rehabilitation method.
